ABOUT THIS VENUE |
Westwoodside Lakes Idle Bank Road, Westwoodside, Doncaster, DN9 2BD (nearest post code) – Grid Ref: SE 724008
Note: There is a 2 rod limit on Westwoodside.
Westwoodside Lakes are mature, picturesque, mixed fisheries located on the border of South Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire, just outside the village of Westwoodside. It comprises two lakes Mirlwyn the larger of the two & Colwyn which features a central island.
These lakes are both just under 2 acres each and are stuffed full of Carp, Pike, Silvers and the odd Tench. The carp go to over 20lb and specimin Pike. Both lakes are surrounded by Pine trees and are absolutely stunning. You can park behind your peg on most of the banks.
These are not your usual Ashfield Angling Club venues but they do fill a gap in our portfolio. They do contain specimen fish but they are the kind of place where you can go to catch a number of fish in a session.
Mirlwyn Lakes were developed by the landowner, the late Colin Snell, at the end of the nineties and was stocked with silver fish and carp.
The trees provide an abundance of shelter for anglers no matter what the weather and keep our bailiff(s) busy pruning and keeping them in good order.
